Random Thoughts of an ASP.Net Code Monkey

About Me

Hello and welcome to my Blog! Here you will find all my thoughts and ramblings on all that occurs in my daily life.

As the title of the Blog states, I'm a ASP.NET Code Monkey. I spend all day working with ASP.NET code. Up until recently I had been working in C# but now I've returned to Visual Basic.Net, and so in my spare time I work in C#. Therefore expect to see code samples in C# and Visual Basic.

In my spare time (Do I really have any of that!?), I am the Chairman and Regional Coordinator, for the North East of England, for VBUG. I cover the North East of England and organise developer support meetings, throughout the year, at least bi-monthly. These usually take the form of having a guest speaker attend the meeting to present a topic and receive questions. Plus there's refreshments and a chance to talk to other developers from around the region. Swag permitting, there are also prize giveaways.

As you will have gathered by now, I am based in the North East of England. I live in Sunderland, God's Country. Although not originally from Sunderland, my family are from Sunderland and it's my home. I moved here in 1998 to attend the University of Sunderland and graduated with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Business Computing in 2002. I have been here ever since and love it!

Another big plus about Sunderland, is the football! I am an ardent Sunderland A.F.C. supporter, if you were to cut me in half I'd be Red and White all the way through! I am regularly at the Stadium of Light cheering on the Lads and also enjoy attending away matches.

I enjoy reading, watching films and playing sports (Football, Badminton, Table Tennis and Snooker). I also have a great interest in the wartime effots of the Royal Air Force, in particular, 617 Squadron - The Dam Busters.

I hope this gives you a little snapshot of who I am and hope that through reading my Blog posts you gain more of an insight into what makes me tick.

Andrew.
